Iowa’s first player has been selected in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Defensive lineman Chauncey Golston was selected in the third round of this year’s draft, going No. 84 overall to the Dallas Cowboys. He’s the second B1G defensive player to be picked by the organization, joining former Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons, who was taken at No. 12.
Golston was an All-B1G selection after the 2020 season, totaling 45 tackles, 8.5 for loss, 5.5 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble. He was an anchor on an Iowa defense that smothered its conference opponents on the way to a 6-2 season.
Over the course of his four-year career in Iowa City, Golston played in 43 career games along the Hawkeyes’ defensive line. He racked up 129 total tackles, 27 stops for loss, 3 interceptions and 3 fumble recoveries.
In addition to being named a first-team All-B1G player after the 2020 season, Golston was also an Honorable Mention All-American pick by Phil Steele. Following the 2019, Golston was an Honorable Mention All-B1G player.
Now, the former Iowa standout is heading to Dallas to try and make an early impact on the defensive side of the football.
