Donovan Edwards spoke glowingly about Michigan quarterback Davis Warren following the Wolverines’ win over rival Michigan State on Saturday night.

Warren made his first start since Week 3 on Saturday vs. the Spartans. He played well, completing 13-of-19 passes for 123 yards, 1 touchdown and 0 interceptions in the win.

In a postgame meeting with reporters, Edwards said he was proud of how Warren performed.

“One last thing that I do want to hit on about this guy right here,” Edwards said. “I think that if you go through a lot of adversity, expectations on you, the adversity defines who you are. And this guy right here didn’t flinch, not one bit. That’s somebody in our huddle that we respect because of the resilience that he’s had.

“I truly respect and appreciate him. He deserved the game he had and especially being able to get his start back, to be able to lead this team to victory. Y’all better stop counting him out, man, because he’s shown time and time again that he overcomes adversity in his personal life, and in the football world. He’s always going to overcome adversity. So I just wanted to say I’m proud of him and stop questioning him, please.”

Here’s video of Edwards’s comments:

That sentiment was surely appreciated by Warren, who played well in his first start back with the Wolverines. Jack Tuttle missed the game due to injury, but it seems as though Michigan could stick with Warren moving forward regardless.

Michigan will host No. 1 Oregon in Week 10.
