Don’t give up on these Badgers, Greg Gard says after come-from-behind win vs. Indiana

The comeback kids? The Cardiac Badgers doesn’t quite work. We’ll have to workshop a name, but one thing’s for certain: Greg Gard’s Wisconsin Badgers don’t know how to quit.

Wisconsin trailed by as many as 22 points Wednesday night against Indiana, but rallied behind strong second-half performances from Johnny Davis and Chris Vogt to stun the Hoosiers 64-59.

With just over a minute to play in the first half, Wisconsin trailed the Hoosiers 42-20. It outscored the visitors 44-17 from that point on to match the largest comeback in program history (22 points).

After the game, Gard had a clear message for anyone who turned the game off early or walked out of Kohl Center.

“Hopefully nobody left earlier,” Gard said. “If they left early, that’ll teach them to give up on this team.”

Wisconsin trailed Saint Mary’s earlier this season by as many as 10 points in the second half of the Maui Invitational final, but managed a comeback there as well, winning 61-55. The Badgers have won 6 straight games, 4 of which have come by 6 points or less. These Badgers grind wins out.

And they’re off to an 8-1 start.
