Talk about high praise.

One thing NFL Draft analysts and experts never stop doing is watching tape on some of the biggest stars in college football. It helps them make comparisons to certain players and give a better projection of where a player may land in each upcoming draft.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller gave out some pretty high praise recently, though, and it was to Ohio State’s Jeffrey Okudah. The former five-star cornerback was compared to one of the best secondary players in the NFL right now.

Jalen Ramsey.

“I think they’re different players, but Okudah is for sure on that level of Ramsey as a prospect,” Miller said in a tweet.

Ramsey has been a shutdown corner in the NFL, registering nine interceptions and 44 pass deflections in his three years with the Jacksonville Jaguars. he’s also totaled 193 tackles and has been a Pro Bowl selection each of the last two seasons.

Okudah has played quite a bit in his first two years in Columbus, making a quick impact for the Buckeyes. His numbers don’t reflect how talented a player he really is, though. Last year, he tallied 32 tackles and eight pass break-ups but has yet to record an interception.

There’s a good chance that changes this fall.

Talent isn’t always about producing numbers, and Miller doesn’t need a stat sheet to see how skilled Okudah is. Still, a comparison to Ramsey is a pretty big deal for the junior defensive back.
