Drew Allar’s first TD as Penn State’s starter is a thing of beauty

Drew Allar is the starting quarterback for Penn State, finally receiving the nod when Penn State announced the lineups for Saturday’s game against West Virginia.

Allar steps into the starting role with all the expectations that come along with being a former 5-star prospect. And while there’s a long way to go in the season, his first drive of the season was capped with an absolutely beautiful play that culminated in a long touchdown pass.

On a 1st-and-10 play from his own 28-yard line, Allar dropped back to pass. The pressure from West Virginia arrived after a moment, but the QB did not panic.

Allar climbed the pocket smoothly with his eyes downfield. He finally uncorked a throw on the move, placing a beautiful ball just outside the reach of a West Virginia defender.

KeAndre Lambert-Smith was able to secure the catch and was past the last line of defense after the catching. He was able to stroll the rest of the way for the score, a beautiful connection to start the game.

Allar went 2-for-2 on the opening drive and accounted for 81 yards and the touchdown. Combined it was a 4-play, 94-yard touchdown drive to begin the year for Penn State’s offense.
