Dropped the ball: LSU WR nearly costs his team an easy TD with celebration

Limping their way through a 3-4 season, the LSU Tigers hand their hands full when they welcomed in the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday night.
Behind two touchdown runs by senior Najee Harris and a scoring pass from redshirt junior Mac Jones, the Crimson Tide jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the game’s first 13 minutes.
LSU first appeared on the scoreboard with 14:53 left in the second quarter, when freshman quarterback TJ Finley found classmate Kayshon Boutte from 44 yards out.
Due to a premature celebration, however, this score was nearly negated.

Fortunately for Boutte, another wide receiver, senior Jontre Kirklin, recovered the football in the end zone, allowing the score to stand.

With junior Terrace Marshall, Jr. opting-out of the remainder of the 2020 season on November 29, Boutte, a native of New Iberia, Louisiana, entered Saturday’s showdown as the Tigers’ third-leading receiver, having caught 18 passes for 208 yards.
