Stop the presses. UConn won a football game.

The Huskies beat Yale 21-15 Saturday for their first win since 2019 — 11 games since their last victory. Remember, they opted out of 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns. But still, it’s a big deal to get your first win in two years, right?

It’s been a wild ride for UConn this season. Randy Edsall started the year as head coach and announced his intentions to retire at the season’s end. Two days after the Huskies lost to Holy Cross in Week 1, Edsall announced he was resigning immediately and defensive coordinator Lou Spanos would finish out the year as head coach.

UConn is now 1-6 this season and can try and ride its new-found momentum into next week’s game against Middle Tennessee. That game will kick off Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. ET.
