Dwayne Haskins’ attorney announces new lawsuit, cites previously unseen evidence

Dwayne Haskins’ attorney has announced a new lawsuit one year after the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and the former Ohio State star was killed after he was hit by a car in South Florida. He was 24.

Attorney Rick Ellsley put out a statement about the new lawsuit, and circulated to around NFL media circles. He explained that an “old dump truck” hit Haskins, according to the Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Report, as it was traveling faster than the speed limit, carrying excessive cargo and using low tread tires with separated side walls.

Shortly after Haskins’ death, the Associated Press reported that the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office said Haskins’ blood alcohol content was 0.20 when he was fatally struck on Interstate 595 near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport just before dawn on April 9, 2022.

Ellsley also maintained that before Haskins was hit, other drivers avoided him, and called 911 and were present when he was hit. The truck driver’s cell phone records have not been disclosed, according to Ellsley, the driver refused to provide a blood sample to police at the scene and has not provided alcohol test results.

On top of all that, Ellsley suggested many questions remain unanswered. But it is believed that Haskins was targeted and drugged as part of a blackmail and robbery conspiracy. Ellsley also noted that Haskins’ “highly-expensive watch” was stolen shortly before his death.
