After spending his first season and a half in Washington, Dwayne Haskins is hoping to find himself in a quarterback battle with Pittsburgh for the upcoming year. The former Ohio State gunslinger made his debut with the Steelers Thursday night.

Pittsburgh took on Dallas in the Hall of Fame Game, the first preseason contest of the NFL season. Haskins was one of three Steelers quarterbacks to play in Thursday’s game, along with Mason Rudolph and Joshua Dobbs.

In his first game wearing a Steelers uniform, Haskins completed 8-of-13 pass attempts for 54 yards. He also had 4 rushing yards in the game. Pittsburgh defeated Dallas 16-3.

Haskins was released by Washington during the 2020 season and signed by Pittsburgh in January 2021. He played in 7 games last year, totaling 1,439 yards and 5 touchdowns with 7 interceptions while completing 61.4% of his passes.

As a rookie in 2019, Haskins threw for 1,365 yards and 7 touchdowns with 7 picks with a 58.6% completion rate.

Haskins was a first-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, selected by Washington. He had a stellar 2018 campaign at Ohio State, his only year as the full-time starter, throwing for 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns.
