Dwayne Haskins broke all kinds of Ohio State and B1G records in his one season as the Buckeyes starter, and on Thursday night, he put an end to a 25-year drought.

Haskins was taken by the Washington Redskins with the No. 15 pick of the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He’s the first B1G quarterback to be taken in the first round since 1995, when Penn State’s Kerry Collins was drafted.

Since the end of the 2018 season, Haskins was regarded as one of the top two quarterbacks in the draft, with the only contender being Kyler Murray. But Haskins was actually the third quarterback taken off the board on Thursday night — behind Murray (No. 1) and Duke’s Daniel Jones (No. 6).

The biggest knock on Haskins was his inexperience, starting just one year for the Buckeyes.

In his lone season as the starter in Columbus, Haskins led the NCAA in passing yardage (4,831) and passing touchdowns (50). He guided the Buckeyes to a 13-1 record, a B1G title and a Rose Bowl victory. He was named the B1G Offensive Player of the Year and finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting.

Though Haskins slipped a little bit on draft night, he should be a good fit in Washington.
