Following the team’s 20-15 loss to the Seattle Seahawks at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland on Sunday, photographs began to surface on social media apparently showing Washington Football Team quarterback Dwayne Haskins enjoying himself at an area strip club without wearing a mask.

Per the Washington Post’s Nicki Jhabvala, the organization has been in contact with the National Football League regarding a potential violation of the league’s coronavirus (COVID-19) policies and is handling the matter internally.

For his part, Haskins, a second-year professional out of Ohio State, issued a statement on Twitter on Tuesday.

“I want to publicly apologize for my actions this past Sunday,” he wrote.

“I spoke with Coach (Ron) Rivera yesterday (Monday) and took full accountability for putting the team at risk. It was irresponsible and immature of me and I accept responsibility for my situation.”

Sunday was Haskins’ first start since the Week 4 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on October 4, as the team’s starting quarterback, former Utah Ute Alex Smith, was out with a calf strain.

Nearly leading a fourth-quarter comeback, the ex-Buckeye completed 38-of-55 passes for 295 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, and added 28 yards on three rushing attempts.

His Ohio State teammate, Terry McLaurin, was his second-leading receiver, recording seven receptions for 77 yards.

Washington, who holds a one-game lead over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East at 6-8, will host the Carolina Panthers (4-10) at 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday on CBS.
