Dwayne Haskins is one of the most confident college football players you’ll find. And if that wasn’t evident all year long with his play, striking up the Heisman pose near the end of Ohio State’s 45-24 victory over Northwestern in the B1G Championship Game served as further proof.
After the Buckeyes claimed their second straight conference title, Haskins was asked about Ohio State’s chances of making the College Football Playoff. Though he doesn’t know his team’s destiny quite yet, the OSU quarterback did make a promise to the nation.
Haskins plans to put on a show if the Buckeyes are one of the four teams in the field.
“If the committee makes a decision to put us in the Playoff, I’m gonna put on a show,” Haskins said confidently.
Tell me that isn’t what you want to hear from your quarterback.
Haskins has put on a show all season long, including in the B1G Championship Game. He threw for 499 yards and five touchdowns while completing 34-of-41 passes. All of those were records for the conference title game.
For the year, Haskins threw for 4,580 yards and 47 touchdowns. There’s no question he’s deserving of a trip to New York City for the Heisman Trophy presentation ceremony.
Will Ohio State be in? That’s the question everyone is asking. But it sure would be fun to see Haskins go up against some of those defenses that are in the mix.
