Dwayne Haskins reportedly no longer a team captain at Washington after appearing to violate COVID-19 protocols

Former Ohio State star quarterback Dwayne Haskins is reportedly losing his captaincy with the Washington Football Team as a result of an off the field incident, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Haskins broke COVID-19 team rules by reportedly visiting a strip club without a mask. Haskins said on Wednesday to the media that it wasn’t a strip club but instead a private birthday party for his girlfriend, according to the New York Post.

Haskins was reportedly fined $40K, the largest amount for a COVID-19 violation, according to the New York Post. Haskins apologized to the team for the situation, per Washington Football Team coach Ron Rivera, via ProFootball Talk.
“One thing I appreciated was his honesty in the conversation,” Rivera said to ESPN’s Kimberley A. Martin. “He and I probably have talked five or six times in the past two days.”
Quarterback Alex Smith is dealing with a calf injury, so Haskins could still see action on Sunday vs. the Carolina Panthers despite the demotion.
Haskins was selected by Washington with the No. 15 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Haskins was a First team All-B1G selection for Ohio State in 2018.
