Eddie George not only is a football coach at Tennessee State, but is now navigating the recruiting process once again. His son, Eriq George, is getting recruited as a DL.
Eriq is a member of the 2023 class out of Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tennessee per the 247Sports Composite. Eriq already has offers from Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, and UT Martin.
Eddie stated that there are 2 schools that his son is not allowed to go to. Given Eddie’s college background, 1 of them might not surprise you. He won’t allow his son to go to Michigan or Jackson State per Nick Gray of the Mississippi Clarion Ledger.
“He can’t go to Jackson State,” Eddie George said at his son’s game in Nashville. “He’s not going there or that team up north (Michigan, the rival school of Eddie George’s alma mater, Ohio State). But I tell him to see all that’s out there and ultimately trust your intuition, trust your gut.”
At the end of the day, Eddie wants his son to know that it is ultimately his decision. Eddie wants Eriq to go where his heart’s desire is.
“This is his deal, his process, his career,” Eddie George said. “He knows what I’m doing (at TSU); he’s around me everyday and he knows how he’s going to get coached (if he chooses TSU). I tell him to go and see what’s out there. Go where your heart’s desire is.”
