Edrees Farooq, a 3-star recruit out of Maryland, has narrowed down his options. Four B1G teams are in contention for the services of the 6’0, 180 pound safety.
Farooq has offers from 24 schools, across multiple conferences, including schools like Tennessee, Penn State, Maryland, and Arizona. The high school senior announced on Monday that B1G’s Ohio State, Maryland, Michigan, and Penn State made the top 10.
Pitt, Cincinnati, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia Tech, and USC were the other teams that made the safety’s top 10.

Farooq is the 599th-ranked prospect nationally and the 46th-ranked safety according to the 247 Sports Composite. The safety could be a versatile player, dropping down from a safety to the cover the slot position.
According to some predictions, Penn State leads the other teams at 50.5% for the safety’s commitment. Farooq is a member of the 2024 class.
