Penn State freshman quarterback Drew Allar has loads and loads of talent. But because he is a freshman battling against veteran Sean Clifford, he also gets to wait his turn on the bench.

So what, says senior safety Ji’Ayir Brown.

“When Drew came in, everybody wanted to see what Drew could do,” Brown said on Monday, via Lions247. “And he pretty much showed us all what he can do early on. His arm is unbelievably talented. Drew has an arm, he can sling the ball 60, 70, 80 yards downfield if he wants to. Probably further.”

It’s true that Allar is one of the most naturally gifted quarterbacks in the 2022 cycle. He’s rated as the No. 4 quarterback in the nation per 247 sports and the No. 19 overall prospect in the 2022 cycle.

Elite 11 director Brian Stumpf thinks he’ll be the talk of the town soon enough.

“I think he’s in a great situation,” Stumpf said. “If they can keep Sean healthy and have a sixth-year guy to learn from, who has been through almost everything, I don’t think you can find a better mentor for for Drew. I think there’s an ideal setting for the program in terms of a senior leader having hopefully a great year this year, and then you’ve got a couple younger guys learning under him that are ready to compete come spring ball.”
