One of the nation’s top prospects for the class of 2023 has reopened his recruitment.
Reuben Owens II, a five-star running back out of Texas, made the announcement Thursday morning, decommitting from Texas in the process. In a post on Twitter, Owens thanked the Longhorns and said that he would still consider the program, but he will also examine his other opportunities before making a decision.

According to 247 Sports, Owens already has offers from Nebraska, Penn State, and Purdue out of the B1G, along with a host of Power 5 offers from across the country. Other notable offers include Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, USC, and Georgia. It is likely other programs try to enter the mix for Owens with his recruitment reopening.
According to the Composite Rankings, Owens is the 24th ranked prospect nationally for the class of 2023 and is the 2nd-best running back recruit. He is also rated as the No. 4 recruit out of Texas for the cycle while playing for El Campo High School.
