Ohio State received some tough news on the recruiting front on Monday night.
Andrew Chatfield, one of the top defensive ends in the 2018 class, announced via Twitter that he would be decommitting from Ohio State and would reopen his recruiting. The choice to cut ties with the Buckeyes comes just two months after giving the program a verbal pledge:
I just open my recruitment please respect my decision 🙏🏾

Chatfield is a four-star DE out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and is ranked as the 14th-best prospect at his position.
The Florida native already has more than 30 offers but recent visits to Florida and Miami for summer camps seem to be leading causes in his decision to decommit. The crystal ball predictions from 247Sports has Florida, LSU and Ohio State still in the mix for Chatfield.
Ohio State had the No. 1 ranked recruiting class on Monday. While there is still a plethora of depth and talent in Meyer’s 2018 class, there’s no doubt the loss of Chatfield hurts.
