Elite performer: Juwan Howard’s unique streak in the NCAA Tournament continues

It might’ve been the furthest thing from his mind on Sunday night, but Juwan Howard kept his unique NCAA Tournament streak alive as Michigan cruised to a 76-58 win over Florida State in the Sweet 16.
Michigan’s win means the Wolverines have advanced to the Elite Eight, just one victory away from reaching the Final Four. It would be an incredibly accomplishment for Howard in just his second season as the head coach.
But Sunday’s win also marked the continuation of Howard’s appearance in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. He’s led his team to this point of the tournament every year at Michigan as a player and coach.

While he was a player, Michigan played in two national championships (1992, 1993) and Howard closed out his career with an Elite Eight appearance in 1994. And, because of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, there was no March Madness.
Michigan reached this point by defeating Texas Southern, LSU and Florida State. The Wolverines will now play UCLA with a trip to the Final Four on the line on Tuesday night.
