Emeka Egbuka left Ohio State as one of the best receivers in program history. The No. 19 overall pick in 2025 now has his first NFL career touchdown.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver found the end zone with just under 7 minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter, pulling in a pass from Baker Mayfield for a 30-yard touchdown as the Bucs took the lead over the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Here’s video of Egbuka’s scoring catch:
Egbuka, the Buckeyes’ all-time leader in receptions with 205 and second in career receiving yards with 2,868, was a first-round pick by the Bucs in the 2025 NFL Draft after Ohio State’s championship season, the first time in 11 years the franchise has used a first-round pick on a wide receiver. He finished with 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024.
Tampa Bay fans will certainly be hoping that the Mayfield-Egbuka connection is a frequent one in 2025. The rookie has enjoyed a good first half in Week 1, making 3 catches for 42 yards along with his touchdown in the 2nd quarter. And it’s another memory made for him at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, just over 7 months after the Buckeyes won the national championship in the building.
The Bucs and Falcons entered halftime tied at 10.
