Emmanuel Sanders on Denver Broncos QB battle: ‘I think it’s still wide open’

Former Northwestern quarterback Trevor Siemian did OK last night in his debut start last night for the Denver Broncos. Siemian’s Broncos played the San Francisco 49ers and the former Wildcat five-of-six passes for 55 yards on a game-opening touchdown drive.
After that, however, he threw an interception and according to nfl.com’s Chris Wesseling, Siemian showed a reluctance to throw the ball downfield in one-on-one situations with wide receivers Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. Once Siemian’s time concluded, Mark Sanchez stepped in.
But, Sanchez didn’t deliver a ton of hope either, losing two fumbles after starting his night off well, just like Siemian did, completing nine-of-10 passes.
During the third quarter, the pass-catching Sanders spoke to Denver sideline reporter Rod Mackey:

While Siemian hasn’t won the job yet, it doesn’t seem as though he has lost it either, according to Sanders. The Broncos’ third and probably most-telling preseason game begins at 8 p.m. CST on Aug. 27 in Denver.
