‘Error in reading test results’ forced CFB team to cancel game when it could’ve actually been played

Cancellations an postponements in college football are going to occur throughout the course of the season. That’s something everyone has come to terms with this year. But some brutal news hit Georgia State this week after it postponed its game against Charlotte, scheduled for Saturday.
Georgia State postponed this weekend’s game against Charlotte due to an uptick in positive COVID-19 cases. However, the school announced on Sunday that there was an “error in reading test results,” and that this weekend’s matchup could’ve actually been played.
That has to be difficult to hear from the players and coaches on both teams.
Georgia State said in a statement that two round of testing had been conducted earlier in the week with no positive results. On Friday, the team was told there were multiple positive test results, when really all tests were negative.

The game between Georgia State and Charlotte has not been rescheduled yet. Both teams are 0-1 this season.
Georgia State is scheduled to host East Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 3 with kickoff set for 12 p.m. ET. Charlotte will travel to FAU for a 4 p.m. kickoff time.
Saturday’s postponement marked the second straight game that was either postponed or canceled for Charlotte.
