This is not where the Buckeyes wanted to be at this point in the season.

After getting blown out in a loss to Purdue, Ohio State debuted at No. 10 on the initial College Football Playoff Top 25 Tuesday. That ranking did come as a bit of a surprise with Kentucky at No. 9 and Washington State at No. 8 ahead of the Buckeyes.

There is no denying the 49-20 loss to Purdue hurt Ohio State’s chances. However, the team does have wins over TCU and Penn State. The Buckeyes will also have opportunities to notch key wins with games against Michigan State and Michigan, who came in at No. 5 on the Playoff rankings, still on the schedule.

When discussing which teams outside the top six have a shot at making a run at the Playoff, David Pollack highlighted the Buckeyes as his sleeper team to watch the rest of the way:

“Ohio State to me, they have a lot of things to fix,” explained Pollack, “But they have the talent…With their talent level, they should be there at the end.”

Can the Buckeyes make it all the way to No. 4 and a spot in the Playoff?
