Ohio State beat Texas 14-7 in Columbus during Week 1 of the 2025 season, a rematch of their College Football Playoff semifinal match-up from last season.
On September 12, the Buckeyes head to Austin for the second game of a home-and-home regular season series. ABC will televise the game, set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff from DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Ohio State had designs on winning back-to-back national championships. After a 12-0 regular season, it lost 13-10 to Indiana in the Big Ten Championship Game. Then, in the CFP quarterfinal at the Cotton Bowl, it fell 24-14 to eventual finalist Miami. In 2026, the Buckeyes should be in the CFP hunt once more.
This is only the Buckeyes’ second trip to DKR. The first, and so far only, time was in 2006 as the No. 1 team in the country. That year, Troy Smith threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns, Anthony Gonzalez made eight catches for 142 yards and a TD, and Antonio Pittman ran for 74 yards and a score as the Buckeyes topped the then-No. 2 Longhorns 24-7.
Texas is coming off a 10-3 season. After their loss to Ohio State, the Longhorns won three straight before falling at Florida. They then won six of their final seven games of the regular season, but a loss to Georgia during that stretch damaged Texas’s CFP hopes.
