ESPN CFB analyst says Michigan ‘regressing’ under Jim Harbaugh

With Michigan on a two-game losing streak, coach Jim Harbaugh is coming under fire. After beating Minnesota in Week 1, Michigan has lost consecutive games against Michigan State (27-24) and Indiana (38-21).
The loss against Indiana was Michigan’s first in the series since 1987.
ESPN analyst Trevor Matich believes Michigan is trending in the wrong direction under Harbaugh.
“It’s one thing to butt up against the ceiling of Ohio State, everybody butts up against that ceiling. But you’ve got to be getting closer to that ceiling, and Michigan is regressing,” Matich said via 247Sports. “They’re getting worse and it’s not this loss to Indiana I think that Michigan fans will point to, because Indiana is a pretty good team, it’s the loss the week before to Michigan State. The Spartans got housed by Rutgers and the next week they went to Ann Arbor and housed Michigan. That’s the one I think fans will look and say yeah, this team is not getting better and getting closer to Ohio State, they’re getting farther away.”
The embattled Harbaugh has been rumored recently to being open an NFL return.
Harbaugh has amassed a disappointing 48-20 record in six season at Michigan. Prior to taking the job at his alma mater, Harbaugh went 44-19 in a four-year stint with the 49ers, including a Super Bowl appearance.
Things don’t get any easier for Michigan this week, as they’ll host No. 13 Wisconsin this Saturday in a primetime showdown (6:30 p.m. CST/ABC).
