Spring practice is the early kickoff of the new campaign. For fans, and media members, the most intriguing players are newcomers (freshmen, transfer), those coming off injury/rehabilitation and veterans being asked to take the next step. With that in mind, ESPN has named its 25 “players we’re most excited to watch” (one player, or position group in Clemson’s case, for each Top 25 team).
The B1G headliner is, unsurprisingly, Ohio State QB Justin Fields. The transfer from Georgia, and former Penn State pledge, is the answer “too obvious to ignore” when selecting a player for No. 5 Ohio State, Dan Murphy writes.
Fields has the potential to add another gear to Ohio State’s already lethal offense with his athleticism. He’s also never started a college game and will be asked to learn a complicated offense in just eight months. How much progress can he make during spring practice?
Here’s the full list of B1G players:
- No. 5 – Ohio State QB Justin Fields
- No. 9 – Michigan DE Mike Danna
- No. 16 – Penn State LB Micah Parsons
- No. 19 – Northwestern QB Hunter Johnson
- No. 21 – Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz
- No. 22 – Iowa DE A.J. Epenesa
- No. 24 – Nebraska C Cameron Jurgens
