Todd McShay is high on Chase Young, and he’s not afraid to hide it. The NFL Draft expert made a pretty bold statement during ESPN’s First Take this week.

McShay recently released his initial mock draft following the conclusion of the college football regular season. In that draft, McShay has Young listed as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, behind only LSU quarterback Joe Burrow.

Placing Young in that No. 2 spot isn’t crazy, as the Ohio State defensive end has been considered one of the best players in college football all season long. But what McShay said about him might turn a few heads.

During First Take, McShay was asked to compare Young to Joey Bosa and Nick Bosa, both former Ohio State defensive ends. That’s when the draft expert made his bold claim.

“He’s better,” McShay said of Young. “I’d take him No. 1 overall even if I needed a quarterback.”

Considering the amount of success both Bosas had at the collegiate and professional level, it almost seems like a ridiculous claim. But many believe Young is a once-in-a-generation player. And he’s proven that all season long.

Young has registered an FBS-best 16.5 sacks this season, along with six forced fumbles, a blocked field goal and 44 total tackles. He’s wrecked multiple games this season, and collected seven sacks in wins over Wisconsin and Penn State during the regular season.

Obviously, Young will be one of the top targets when the 2020 NFL Draft rolls around. We’ll have to wait a bit longer to see if he’s really better than both of the Bosas, though.
