ESPN provides cool behind-the-scenes look at Herbstreit calling Sugar Bowl from home

After this, all Kirk Herbstreit might care about is getting more mega-desk.

Buckeyes. Beats. Battlestar Galactica.

The ESPN analyst had a pretty neat set-up for the College Football Playoff with the ‘Worldwide Leader’ making it possible for Herbstreit to be able to call the game from home. Herbstreit’s in-home studio is a thing of man cave beauty.

A quick (and certainly non-official) count looks like six monitors put together for Herbstreit to call the game. And judging from the game, one could not tell that the former Ohio State quarterback wasn’t at the game.

The consummate professional, Herbstreit was his usual flawless self in the call.

The neat part about all of this is how similar it is to a studio-booth set-up if Herbstreit was actually calling Friday night’s Sugar Bowl (a 49-28 win by Ohio State for what it’s worth) on-site and not from his home. As a former Buckeye, Herbstreit might need to consider calling the upcoming College Football Playoff championship from his home again to keep the good times rolling against Alabama.

No need for him to jinx things.

Although next year, ESPN should consider auctioning off the Herbstreit at-home experience to raise money for the ‘V Foundation.’ Complete with some burgers being grilled-up in the backyard.

Would be a neat experience for sure.
