One of Big Ten’s leading College Football Playoff candidates, Michigan, avoided an embarrassing loss at home to a non-Power 5 opponent but still dropped in ESPN’s college football power rankings heading into Week 3. With the fall, the BIG only has one team inside the Top 10 on ESPN’s list.

After routing Cincinnati in Week 2, Ohio State came in at No. 6. The next highest-ranked BIG team was actually Wisconsin at No. 11 followed by Michigan at No. 12.

Here is the complete Top 10 College Football Power Rankings from ESPN heading into Week 3:

  1. Clemson
  2. Alabama
  3. LSU
  4. Georgia
  5. Oklahoma
  6. Ohio State
  7. Notre Dame
  8. Auburn
  9. Utah
  10. Florida

While Michigan barely survived against Army in overtime, Ohio State had no problem defeating Cincinnati, knocking off the Bearcats, 42-0. ESPN raved about quarterback Justin Fields, who is off to a very fast start in his Buckeyes career.

Via ESPN:

“The Justin Fields show continued, as the Georgia transfer had two more touchdown passes and two more scoring runs in a 42-0 rout of Cincinnati on Saturday. His nine total touchdowns is tied for the most by an Ohio State quarterback through two games in the past 15 years; Dwayne Haskins and J.T. Barrett also did it in 2018 and 2016, respectively.”
