ESPN updated its Football Power Index (FPI) top 25 rankings on Sunday afternoon, and six teams from the Big Ten Conference have made an appearance — three coming in the top-10.
Headlining the entire conference, however, is Michigan (8-1, 6-0), which rides an eight-game winning streak after dominating Penn State in a 42-7 victory in the Big House on Saturday afternoon. The Wolverines’ No. 1-ranked defense held PSU quarterback to 5-of-13 for 83 yards and an interception, and the team to 186 yards in total to move up one spot to No. 4 in the latest FPI rankings.
Here’s the full list as we turn our attention to Week 11:
4. Michigan (8-1; LW: No. 5)
6. Ohio State (8-1; LW: No. 6)
7. Penn State (6-3; LW: No. 7)
13. Iowa (6-3; LW: No. 14)
17. Michigan State (6-3; LW: No. 21)
23. Purdue (5-4; LW: unranked)
With three games remaining on the regular season schedule, the FPI formula gives Michigan a 66.4 percent chance to go on and win the B1G — the highest of any team in the conference. The Wolverines aren’t expected to have any kind of trouble the next two weeks against Rutgers and Indiana before having a 55.4 percent chance to beat Ohio State on the road come Nov. 24.
One way or another it should be an exciting finish in the Big Ten.
