Week 12 of the college football season has come to a close and we’re already onto Week 13. Time flies when you’re having fun!

Each week, after the games are concluded, ESPN’s FPI — which measures a team’s overall strength — updates and gives teams a number. The higher the number, the better the team.

Last week, seven Big Ten teams were in the FPI’s top 25. This week, there are six. Ohio State was No. 1 a week ago and that trend carries over to this week. Penn State remained at No. 6 and the only Big Ten team to fall outside the top 25 was Michigan State.

I wonder why that could be? (The Spartans have lost five straight games. That’s why.) The best part about this week’s FPI can be seen at the bottom of this article. You’ll have a chuckle at that.

Here’s the ESPN FPI after Week 12:

  1. Ohio State
  2. Clemson
  3. Alabama
  4. LSU
  5. Georgia
  6. Penn State
  7. Oregon
  8. Oklahoma
  9. Florida
  10. Michigan
  11. Auburn
  12. Utah
  13. Wisconsin
  14. Notre Dame
  15. Texas A&M
  16. Iowa
  17. Minnesota
  18. Washington
  19. Iowa State
  20. UCF
  21. Baylor
  22. USC
  23. Texas
  24. Washington State
  25. Oklahoma State

Last week, at 9-0, Minnesota was ranked No. 19 according to the model. This week? After losing to Iowa?

No. 17.
