There’s  now a pretty general consensus regarding which four teams will reach the College Football Playoff at the end of the season.

Following Week 5 action, four college football writers at ESPN submitted their College Football Playoff predictions, with very little difference among the group. In fact, all the reporters picked the same four teams to earn a bid this season.

The four writers are Edward Aschoff, Chris Low, Adam Rittenberg and Mark Schlabach. Here were their predictions after Week 5, in order of seeding:

  • Aschoff: Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Penn State
  • Low: Alabama , Clemson, Oklahoma, Penn State
  • Rittenberg: Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, Penn State
  • Schlabach: Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, Penn State

As you can tell, not much difference among the four writers. Aschoff and Low think Alabama will be awarded with the top seed, while Rittenberg and Schlabach believe it will be handed to Clemson.

The fifth week wasn’t all that exciting, but those four teams dominated on Saturday. That’s probably why it was the picks were virtually unanimous.
