Saquon Barkley may be back on the field in Week 1 of the NFL season.
On Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Barkley, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 2 of the 2020 season, is “on track to be ready for the start of the season, per sources.” The running back’s injury came in the New York Giants’ game against the Chicago Bears.
Barkley had two impressive seasons after being taken with the No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He hit the 1,000-yard mark in each of his first two seasons, totaling 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie in 2018. The following year, he piled up 1,003 yards and scored 6 rushing touchdowns.

In total, Barkley has accounted for 2,344 rushing yards and 1,219 receiving yards on a total of 646 touches and has reached the end zone a total of 23 times.
After his big year in 2018, Barkley was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and was a Pro Bowl selection. He was also named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
Before his NFL career started, Barkley was a two-time B1G Offensive Player of the Year winner and was a consensus All-American at the end of the 2017 season while at Penn State. He also helped lead the Nittany Lions to a B1G title in 2016.
