ESPN’s College GameDay made their picks in North Carolina’s big game vs. Minnesota on Saturday morning.

North Carolina and Minnesota both enter this game with a 2-0 record. The Tar Heels have wins over South Carolina and App State while the Golden Gophers have been victorious against Nebraska and Eastern Michigan.

ESPN’s panelists were split, with 3 picking North Carolina and 2 going with Minnesota.

Here’s how it broke down:

  • Desmond Howard: North Carolina
  • Pat McAfee: North Carolina
  • Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (guest picker): North Carolina
  • Lee Corso: Minnesota
  • Kirk Herbstreit: Minnesota

“UNC’s running back, [Omarion] Hampton, he rushed for 234 yards last game. I think Minnesota gets a big dose of him,” Johnson said.

North Carolina did get a big game from Hampton last week as he rushed for 3 touchdowns as well, including one in overtime. Quarterback Drake Maye had the game-winning score on the ground in double-overtime.

This will be the first-ever meeting between North Carolina and Minnesota. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET.
