ESPN’s FPI is back and ready to make predictions for the Week 3 slate of games. Northwestern takes on Southern Illinois at home.

Northwestern is coming off of a tough loss to Duke, 31-23. Evan Hull almost helped the Wildcats pull off the comeback, before he fumbled the ball into the end zone towards the end of the game.

Hull had 65 yards rushing, 213 yards receiving, and 2 total touchdowns. Hull and QB Ryan Hilinski did everything they could to help Northwestern win, but their efforts did not matter in the long run.

The previous matchup between these 2 schools was in 2008, and Northwestern won 33-7. The B1G West is still wide open through the first two weeks of the 2022 season, and the Wildcats need to step it up if they want to challenge for a division title.

Northwestern is currently leading the division as the only team in it to play a conference game and win so far. However, Minnesota is hot on Northwestern’s tail following a 2-0 start to the year.

The Football Power Index gives Northwestern a 95.3% chance to win against Southern Illinois.

The Golden Gophers will have a test on Saturday, as they take on Colorado at home. Mohamed Ibrahim and Tanner Morgan will try to end their college careers on a high note this season.

Southern Illinois and Northwestern kick off Saturday at noon ET on BTN.
