ESPN’s FPI has updated its predictions for who will win the B1G West after Week 4. The race is starting to get very tight.
Many B1G teams started conference play in Week 4. Minnesota faced Michigan State, Wisconsin went to Columbus to take on Ohio State, and Iowa played Rutgers as those teams played a B1G opponent for the first time this season.
The Golden Gophers are still officially have the best odds so far after taking care of Michigan State in East Lansing. Northwestern and Nebraska are nearly out of the running for the B1G West title after losses in Week 4.
Illinois has a surprisingly low chance of winning the division even though it has a 3-1 record. The distance between Minnesota and the rest grows larger with each week, as Wisconsin and Purdue fell.
Could the distance between the teams grow even larger in Week 5?
Here’s how the FPI’s predictions are looking after Week 4:
- Minnesota – 73.9%
- Wisconsin – 14.9%
- Purdue – 4.9%
- Iowa – 4.6%
- Illinois – 1.9%
