ESPN’s FPI is predicting the B1G West race in 2022, updating the odds to land in the B1G Championship Game coming out of Week 3.
For most teams in the West, conference action has not started which means the Week 3 results will not have an impact on the divisional standings. Nevertheless, those results do impact what the FPI projects the team to do moving forward.
Coming out of Week 3, Minnesota maintains the best odds to win the West and is mostly unchanged from where the Gophers stood coming out of Week 2. Iowa and Illinois are not given much of a shot with their odds mostly unchanged from last week.

The two teams with big swings coming out of Week 3 are Wisconsin and Purdue. Those two teams posted opposite results over the weekend.
For the Badgers, a big win has given them a nearly 15-point bump in odds. For the Boilermakers, a last-minute loss to Syracuse dropped their odds by about 19 percentage points.
Here’s how the B1G West race looks, per the Football Power Index:
- Minnesota – 40.7%
- Wisconsin – 36.2%
- Purdue – 17%
- Iowa – 3.8%
- Illinois – 1.9%
