Maryland football kicks off its 2023 season against Towson on Saturday, Sept. 2.
The Terrapins are given a 93.9% chance of taking care of business against the Tigers to kick off Year 5 No. for Mike Locksley and Co per ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI). The FPI predicts every game for the 2023 college football season, so we decided to take a look at Maryland’s outlook for the upcoming year.
Here is Maryland’s chance to win every game on its 2023 schedule, according to ESPN’s FPI:
- Sept. 2 vs. Towson: 93.9%
- Sept 9 vs. Charlotte: 87.1%
- Sept 15. vs. Virginia: 77.4%
- Sept 23. at Michigan State: 39.8%
- Sept. 30 vs. Indiana: 73%
- Oct. 7 at Ohio State: 3.6%
- Oct. 14 vs. Illinois: 54.9%
- Oct. 28 at Northwestern: 61.5%
- Nov. 4 vs. Penn State: 24%
- Nov. 11 at Nebraska: 48.5%
- Nov. 18 vs. Michigan: 20.1%
- Nov. 25 at Rutgers: 67.6%
As you can see, the FPI labels the Terps as favorites in 7 of their 12 regular season games this upcoming season. Should that number hold – and do note that this is far from a perfect science at necessarily projecting a team’s record – the Terps would finish bowl eligible once again.
Let’s see what Locksley and Co. can do.
