James Franklin’s Penn State Nittany Lions finished the truncated 2020 season at 4-5. How they arrived at this mark, however, was certainly unusual.
After dropping their first five contests, Penn State ended the year on a four-game winning streak, including consecutive road triumphs over the Michigan Wolverines and Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
Hoping to keep this late-season momentum rolling in 2021, ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) released their updated winning percentage odds for each game on the Nittany Lions’ upcoming schedule.
- Sept. 4: at Wisconsin – 45.6% (L)
- Sept. 11: vs. Ball State – 90.4% (W)
- Sept. 18: vs. Auburn – 61.5% (W)
- Sept. 25: vs. Villanova – 97.8% (W)
- Oct. 2: vs. Indiana – 71.5% (W)
- Oct. 9: at Iowa – 50.9% (W)
- Oct. 23: vs. Illinois – 91.9% (W)
- Oct. 30: at Ohio State – 18% (L)
- Nov. 6: at Maryland – 75.1% (W)
- Nov. 13: vs. Michigan – 72% (W)
- Nov. 20: vs. Rutgers – 89.3% (W)
- Nov. 27: at Michigan State – 65.6% (W)
If these FPI predictions ring true, Penn State would finish the regular season at 10-2, marking the fourth time in the last six seasons the program has reached double-digit wins.
The season-opener in Madison, one of the most anticipated games on the schedule, will kick at 12 p.m. ET on FOX, following the network’s Big Noon Kickoff pregame show.
