ESPN’s FPI predicts every remaining game for Nebraska

It’s been a weird season on a number of levels, but especially for Nebraska.

The Huskers have only played one game so far — a 52-17 drubbing at the hands of Ohio State — due to a COVID-19 outbreak with Wisconsin. Nebraska is looking to get its first win of the season this week against Northwestern.

Here’s how ESPN’s FPI metric sees the rest of the year going for the Huskers:

  • @ Northwestern (31.8 percent)
  • Vs. Penn State (19.2 percent)
  • Vs. Illinois (72.1 percent)
  • @ Iowa (38.5 percent)
  • @ Purdue (45.8 percent)
  • Vs. Minnesota (66.6 percent)

That’s not ideal if you’re a Huskers fan. If that’s correct, it would give Nebraska a 2-5 record in the Big Ten in a year where the Huskers hoped to be competitive under third-year starter Adrian Martinez.

That also assumes a win over Minnesota, who is 0-2 but missing several key pieces due to Coronavirus. Presumably, the Gophers will be much closer to full strength by the time they travel to Lincoln in the final regular season week.

Nebraska and Northwestern kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday.
