ESPN’s FPI is predicting the Week 7 slate in college football, including a rarely played B1G series between Illinois and Maryland.

Since the Terrapins joined the league in 2014, the two teams have played just twice. Maryland is 2-0 while Mike Locksley defeated Bret Bielema 20-17 the last time the two teams faced in 2021.

This time around, the teams enter Week 7 in the middle of drastically different seasons. As a result, Maryland enters the matchup as a -14 home favorite. Fans looking to get in on that action can use our special Maryland sports betting promo code to get started!

In regard to the FPI, the system gives Maryland an 85.5% chance of coming away with the win despite a big loss to Ohio State in Week 6. Considering recent results from Illinois, those odds are not overall surprising.

The Illini are giving up 28.8 points per game through 6 games and have given up 30+ points 3 times. The offense of Illinois has been even worse while averaging 19.2 points per game with over 2 turnovers per game.

Meanwhile, Maryland was firing on all cylinders until losing to Ohio State in Week 6 and is averaging 35 points per game. The Terrapins are also playing for a shot in the postseason and bowl eligibility, so expect Locksley’s squad to come out with intensity on Saturday.
