ESPN’s FPI predicts outcome of Maryland-Minnesota game

The college football season is churning into Week 8 with an intriguing matchup in store between Maryland and Minnesota. The showdown between the Terrapins and Gophers has become important for both teams with some goals in reach.
For Mike Locksley and Maryland, the Terrapins enter the game at 4-2 but with back-to-back losses. Those losses did come to Iowa and Ohio State, but a win against the Gophers would put Maryland on the brink of bowl eligibility this season.
Meanwhile, P.J. Fleck’s Minnesota squad has clawed their way back into the B1G West race. With back-to-back wins over Purdue and Nebraska – combined with Iowa’s loss to Purdue – the West division will have a race down the stretch to get to Indy.
The key for this game in Week 8 may wind up being home-field advantage with Maryland making the trip to Minneapolis. According to ESPN’s FPI, Minnesota is given a 74.1% chance of coming away with the win and keeping pace in the West.
Who comes out on top? Saturday’s kickoff is set for 3:30 pm EST on ESPN 2.
