ESPN’s FPI predicts outcome of Michigan-Maryland showdown

The college football season is rolling into Week 12, and Michigan and Maryland will square off with a loaded B1G slate in store.
The contest is important to each team though for entirely different reasons. For Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines, the team is once again a serious competitor in the B1G East – and for the College Football Playoff. A win against Maryland would likely set up some huge stakes for the rivalry showdown vs. Ohio State, provided the Buckeyes knock off Michigan State this weekend.
For Mike Locksley and the Terrapins, the pressure is on to get to a bowl game, though opportunities are running out. Maryland recorded its 5th win against Indiana, but back-to-back losses have dropped the team to .500. With 2 games to go, the Terrapins need at least one more win to keep their hopes of a bowl game and a winning season alive.
ESPN’s FPI has updated the odds for the weekend, and it is not surprising that the WOlverines will be huge favorites. According to the FPI, Michigan is given an 89.2% chance of coming away with the victory.
Since joining the B1G in 2014, Maryland has just 1 win over the Wolverines, and that came back in 2014. Michigan has won 5 straight in the series, including a 38-7 showing in 2019.
Saturday’s kickoff is set for 3:30 pm EST on BTN.
