ESPN’s FPI is back with more game predictions for the Week 6 slate of college football. That includes a long-running B1G series between Michigan and Minnesota.

The two sides have met 104 times throughout their history as the Golden Gophers and Wolverines play for the Little Brown Jug. Michigan holds the all-time series lead 76-25-3 and has won 8 of the last 10 meetings. Overall, Minnesota has just 3 wins in the series since the start of the 1980s.

As for Saturday, the FPI gives the Wolverines another massive advantage in the matchup with an 87.1% chance of winning and improving to 6-0. The Wolverines are also -19 favorites for the showdown. Michigan’s most recent trip to Minneapolis came during the 2020 season. Joe Milton was the starting QB for Michigan while Hassan Haskins scored 2 rushing touchdowns in a rout. Mohamed Ibrahim led the Gophers with 140 yards rushing in the loss.

While the rosters have turned over quite a bit since then, the two programs move forward with Jim Harbaugh and PJ Fleck still leading their respective programs. Both also want to lean on heavy run games and a strong defense throughout.

We’ll find out which program has the upper hand for the Little Brown Jug this time around during a primetime matchup on NBC.
