ESPN’s FPI predicts outcome of Rutgers vs. Michigan

ESPN’s FPI is predicting all the matchups from the Week 4 slate of college football. That includes Michigan’s B1G opener against Rutgers in the Big House.
Since joining the B1G, Rutgers has just one win against the Wolverines, and that came all the way back in 2014 when Brady Hoke was still leading Michigan. Jim Harbaugh is a perfect 8-0 against the Scarlet Knights and will return to the sideline for this week’s game.
According to the FPI, Michigan is an overwhelming favorite and is given an 84.9% chance of winning the game. In terms of the betting odds, the Wolverines are currently -24 favorites with a point total set at 44.5. While Michigan was a blowout winner by a score of 52-17 a season ago, Rutgers did cover 2 matchups against the Wolverines across 2020-21. One of those games included a 20-13 Michigan win in the Big House during the 2021 season.
Both teams are undefeated so far this year, but Saturday’s game will be by far the biggest test for either program. Rutgers is looking for a season of growth from some young players, and this game will provide insight into how the Scarlet Knights look against the reigning B1G champs.
