ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts the outcome of every college football game every week.
The Week 6 slate of games should be another wild one, and the model has released its predictions. Included in those predictions is the B1G matchup between Iowa and No. 3 Ohio State.
FPI sees this as a one-sided matchup, with the Buckeyes getting an 89.8% chance to win the matchup. This means the Hawkeyes are getting just a 10.2% chance to pick up their 2nd conference win this week.
The Hawkeyes have had a fine start to their 2024 season. The team dominated FCS Illinois State in Week 1 before falling to Iowa State in the CyHawk rivalry in Week 2.
However, the Hawkeyes responded with big wins over Troy and Minnesota. Now, the team will have to play their best game of the year if they plan on beating Ohio State.
The Buckeyes, meanwhile, are looking to stay perfect on the season as they set their eyes on a return to the College Football Playoff after missing the field last season. The Buckeyes have been impressive, but the Hawkeyes will be the 1st tough test for the team. Akron, Western Michigan, Marshall, and Michigan State are the only teams the Buckeyes have played thus far.
Things will get tougher for the Buckeyes after this one, though. The team has No. 8 Oregon on deck, as well as No. 7 Penn State, No. 23 Indiana, and No. 10 Michigan.
These B1G rivals last played in 2022, when the Buckeyes won 54-10. The Hawkeyes last picked up a win in the series in 2017.
These teams will kick off from Ohio Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
