ESPN’s FPI predicts the outcome of Washington-Iowa in Week 7

One of the new matchups in the B1G with conference realignment is Washington traveling to Iowa.
Naturally, ESPN’s Football Power Index is weighing in with what it thinks will happen. The FPI is giving the Hawkeyes a 60% chance to win this game. That means the FPI does give the Huskies a pretty good chance of winning this game at 40%.
The B1G teams will collide in a 12:00 a.m. ET kickoff from Kinnick Stadium and will be aired in FOX’s noon window. Teams traveling across time zones have not fared well so far in the B1G this season, so we’ll see if Washington can avoid the same fate.
Washington exacted some revenge on Saturday when the Huskies knocked off the Michigan Wolverines by a score of 27-17. Trailing 17-14 entering the 4th quarter, the Huskies outscored the Wolverines 13-0 to secure the win.
Will Rogers was terrific in the win while throwing for 271 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win. He has been terrific for Washington, after a career at Mississippi State where he left with the 2nd most passing yards in SEC history.
Through 5 games, Rogers has thrown 1,625 yards, 12 touchdowns and 1 interception.
The Hawkeyes battled tough in the first half against Ohio State, as they trailed only 7-0 at the half. However, the Buckeyes erupted in the 2nd half en route to the 35-7 win.
The passing game did nearly nothing last week, as the Hawkeyes threw for only 110 yards. Cade McNamara was 14-of-20 for 98 yards and 1 interception. Washington played an offense similar to Iowa’s last week and was able to really focus on and stop Michigan’s rushing attack. McNamara and the receivers will need to make some big plays to open up the defense.
