ESPN’s FPI ranks every B1G team’s strength of schedule from toughest to weakest
With only a few weeks remaining until the first game of the season, college football fans are analyzing every aspect of the upcoming year. That includes schedule evaluation.
Strength of schedule is something fans talk about throughout the offseason as they attempt to find wins on their favorite team’s schedule. In all reality, strength of schedule doesn’t make a huge impact for many teams, except when the College Football Playoff committee starts releasing its rankings.
Still, it’s fun to see which teams have the toughest and weakest schedules for the upcoming season. And ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) does a pretty good job of breaking it down.
Here’s how ESPN’s FPI ranks every B1G team’s strength of schedule for the 2019, from toughest to weakest (national ranking):
- Maryland (17)
- Michigan (20)
- Purdue (24)
- Ohio State (26)
- Wisconsin (27)
- Northwestern (28)
- Rutgers (32)
- Iowa (38)
- Michigan State (42)
- Penn State (43)
- Minnesota (54)
- Nebraska (55)
- Indiana (57)
- Illinois (59)
