Iowa and Purdue are going to be meeting on the gridiron in Week 10. It will be a Charlie Jones reunion on Saturday.
Jones has been on fire since leaving the Iowa program via the transfer portal. He leads all Purdue wideouts with 840 yards receiving and 9 touchdowns. Purdue is 5-3 through eight games.
The Boilermakers last lost to Wisconsin in Week 8. Jeff Brohm’s team has had a bye week to recover following the 35-24 loss.
Iowa is still 4-4 even though there has been controversy surrounding the offense this season. The Hawkeyes had a 33-13 win against Northwestern in Week 9.
Iowa and Purdue have played 92 times in the all-time series. Iowa has not beaten Purdue since 2019. The Football Power Index is favoring the Boilermakers and thinks they have a 69.2% chance to win. The Hawkeyes have much lower odds at 30.8%.
After the QB depth chart was changed to have an open competition, Spencer Petras suited up for Iowa in Week 9 and had 220 yards passing with 1 touchdown. We’ll see who Kirk Ferentz decides to go with on Saturday.
Purdue is trying to catch up to No. 16 Illinois in the B1G West standings, while Iowa is in fourth place behind Minnesota.
