Two weeks into the 2021 college football season and the race for the conference titles are already wild. Despite showing flaws in the 35-28 loss to the No. 12 Oregon Ducks this past Saturday, the No. 9 Ohio State Buckeyes (1-1) have the best projections to win the B1G, according to ESPN’s FPI.

The Buckeyes are still projected to win the B1G while No. 5 Iowa has jumped up to the second-best odds to win the conference championship. Those two teams are followed by Penn State, Wisconsin, and Michigan in odds to win the conference.

Here is how the FPI is projecting the conference race after two weeks:

  • Ohio State – 43%
  • Iowa – 22.1%
  • Penn State – 14.1%
  • Wisconsin – 7.9%
  • Michigan – 7.1%

Every other team in the B1G checked in with odds below 3%.

The Buckeyes have been champions of the B1G for the past four years. They have also been representatives for the conference in the College Football Playoff each of the last two seasons. While this was a tough loss for the Buckeyes this past Saturday, it will take another loss to convince ESPN’s FPI that Ohio State is not the favorite for a fifth consecutive title.
